Details. Children, accompanied by a parent or legal guardian, are fingerprinted and the fingerprints are recorded in an ID booklet. The booklet is given to the parent and contains a detailed questionnaire for the parent to complete on their child. Such information includes medical and dental history, list of immediate family, friends and relatives, educational history, physical and mental characteristics and traits, etc. This completed document can speak to the police for a parent should their child be reported missing. This document is kept only by the parents or legal guardian.

Child Find is established across Canada as a network of charitable, non-profit organizations that deliver services to families whose children go missing unexpectedly.
Child Find started in Alberta in 1983 in response to the disappearance of a 6 1/2 year old Edmonton girl. Child Find in British Columbia was established the same year. Chapters in Kelowna (1988) and Victoria (out of the Michael Dunahee Search Centre) were subsequently opened. Child Find opened a new office in Prince George in March 1998 as part of a commitment to provide better coordination across the province.
Today Child Find BC maintains an office in Victoria BC. Our office is available as a resource for families in need and we work closely with community groups, and the police in order to support families, protect children and educate the public.Child Find is recognized by the R.C.M.P. National Missing Children's Services in Ottawa and is recognized by the National Centre for Missing and Exploited Children in Arlington VA., U.S.A., and has the endorsement of the Chiefs of Police of Canada.
